Rockstar canvases for friends

Luckily i´m not the only one into music; most of my friends are hard rockers as much as me.....
More and more they have been asking me for some artworks about their favorite singers and bands. This is my Jim Morrison; i made it for a friend of mine in Rome. If you want to see it you can find it in his living room.

This is my biggest painting instead.
It's in Verona(Italy)and i've done it for two good friends of mine. They got married last June and it was my Honeymoon present for them. Nobody would refuse it!
I must admit that it's quite impressive when you see it hanging on the wall of their lounge; I quite proud about this one.
It shows Liam & Noel Gallagher from Oasis.

Here we have Richard Ashcroft's portrait.
It is placed in England,a friend of mine asked me to do it, he wanted to put it in his new flat. The lead singer from the Verve is one my all time favourite rockstars,so it has been a pleasure for me to paint it.We both likes his music, and i couldn't say no to her!

The days i met Liam Gallagher and i gave him two canvases

Milan,October 2008.

Liam Gallagher from Oasis came over to Milan for a Radio Interview, the radio is called Radio Deejay. Thanks to a friend i managed to be there.
I knew Liam´s passion for John Lennon and the Beatles; it was also his birthday during those days, so i gave him my painting on John.

This is the video where i give the canvas to him during the interview,i was a bit excited,he´s one of my favourite rockstars ever.

He looked pretty surprised and i truly believe that he appreciated my artwork. He was really friendly with me during our conversation.
Well,if anyone of you goes to his house one day,and you see this painting hanging on one wall; you must know that this is my painting!!!

Milan,February 2009.

Oasis were back in Milan for their tour, and again they went to Radio Deejay for another interview.Of course i was there.....(thanks to the same friend!) and i gave Liam another painting.

It was a portrait of him and Noel this time. I wasn't too sure that Liam would have remembered me, but when he came out from the studio he greeted me straight away. It was really cool,it's not something that happens every day!I asked him about John Lennon´s canvas and he told me he was going to hang it on a wall in his new house. Then i gave him the second painting and he joked"Well man,you should cut Noel´s part off!" !!!!Brothers!

Rockstars

My passion for music had brought me to paint Rockstars quite often.
I've always madly loved the Beatles and i'm very fond of British Rock in general.
I have a lot to say about my rockstars works,so i´ll do it as i go along.

Back in Rome

After Australia i went back home in Rome.
I had been working on a few sketches in Oz and when I arrived in Rome i began to organize everything that I needed to put my ideas into some sort of artworks.
The first things which came out were some abstract paintings and some portraits. One portrait is particularly important for me because i had the pleasure to personally hand it to Liam Gallagher (Oasis lead singer)in Milan in October 2008. The one I´m talking about is John Lennon´s portrait.I´ll tell you more about this meeting in the next days.

The "Australian Period"

As i said before everything started here.
Brisbane is pretty cool about live music, and as i'm crazy for rock'n roll,i used to visit all the right rock places. My favourite one was the Rics Bar,in the Brunswick Mall, heart of the Fortitude Valley, the area where i lived.
Plenty of bands used to swap the stage each other every single day,the atmosphere is always been pretty good and particular.
Lots of Indie Rock has been played there, above all english rock.
"Brisbane Dancer" gets that atmosphere,it's a dancing and smiling girl, nothing else. That's how i see the girls of the Rics Bar in Brisbane.

Here we see the Coliseum,it's the symbol of Rome.I was so far from my city, and that's how i imagined it.

In Sydney i met a Japanese girl, she was learning english, and as her english was very poor at the beginning, she couldn't understands me.That's her usual face expression, and i wanted to put it on a canvas.Well, she speaks a perfect english now!

First Steps

My first 4 canvases represent for me my first steps into my artistic research.
They came out in Brisbane in front of a white paper. My mind went with the flow and four sketches were ready after only a few days.
My first painting was the "Brisbane Dancer",followed by"Coliseum","Japanese girl" and a little one called "Untitled".
I'll call it the "Australian period".

How it started.

Hi everyone,welcome to my blog.

Let's talk about how it started!

First of all i've always used to draw since i was a kid,i had a passion for cars and i loved drawing them.
I still have that passion and i studied as car designer actually(afterwards High School),i'll show you my stuff one day in this blog.
I've been to Art School during my High School years and i learned all common techniques about painting. My passion was still burning for cars though, and so i enrolled in Car Design School.
Beside that i've always wanted to learn English properly and in 2005 i left Italy to Australia.I spent 2 years Downunder, and that's when everything started.
I was impressed with Australian Art exhibitions, so one day in Brisbane, while i was staring at some paintings in an Art Gallery ,i told to myself"hey,u can do it too,why not?".Few days later i went to see Andy Warhol's exhibition in the city.
The next day i bought all i needed for some good sketches and i began to work on something.
I decided to work with only a bunch of colours, simple things and simple shapes.I love simple things.
Orange, gray, white and black came out by themselves;it was the right mix and i kept them like my main colours.
